whoopie pies

Urghhhh........too...much......cake....

The Times had this recipe for whoopie pies and, ever since reading about them a few months back, we've really wanted to try one. So we set aside Sunday morning to bake some.
The pies are good, but man is it a LOT of cake. I think they'd be perfect for when you come in from a long winter walk and need something yummy and comforting.
But right now, I think I need to eat some celery sticks.

lizzie fortunato jewels

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!
I am in LOVE with these designs by Lizzie Fortunato Jewels, a label I have only just come across. I am seriously considering buying a vagabond bracelet (they sell them on Kabiri in the UK and - ARROWS!), but I adore these embroidered pieces from the new collection and the flag thing they had going on last summer. There's a great interview with Ms Fortunato that you can read here.

laura marling

It's raining and I am completely fed up. I have sheets draped all over my house, because they won't dry outside and the only thing that is making the rain seem like a good thing is Laura Marling's new album.
It suits a brooding sky and rain-soaked fields, I think.

'Man Asleep, Woman Awake' by Audrey Jeanne

'OK' by Elisabeth Dunker
'Knitted Bear' by Julia Potts

'Spring' by Flora Douville

'The Chase' by Zosienka

Envelop is a Belgian-based company that allows artists & illustrators to upload their designs and have them printed on 8 different objects (like tote bags, pillow cases and aprons) for people to buy.

All items are printed on demand when someone makes a purchase on the website and the artist gets a royalty for every item they sell. It's not expensive and I love the chance to own something very unique - the website tells you how many people own each item and the designs are available for a limited period only.

Above are some of my favourites, but there are many, many more.

she & him

This is the video for the new She & Him song, 'In The Sun'. Things I like about this are: The library; her hair; skirt+belt combo. The skirt reminds me of the wiksten tulip skirt, but with a little more kick and POCKETS! I see an opportunity for another project?
And, just like every other time I see them on tv, I have locker envy. I know they can't possibly be as awesome as I think they are, but I have always believed my school years would have been a whole lot cooler if only I'd had a locker to...put my stuff into.
