le shopping

My mum and dad have just flown off to Paris this afternoon and I have armed them with a shopping hitlist! I hope they have a lovely time of course, but I have my priorities in order...
  1. Tombees du Camion - This place looks crazy. I can't wait to hear what it's actually like inside.
  2. A.P.C. surplus - A.P.C. with discount? Mais, bien sur!
  3. Merci - I'm a bit wary of the 'concept store' tag, but I hope it has some interesting and nice things.
  4. Ultramod - a haberdashery and Parisian institution (Givenchy, Lanvin and Gaultier have all shopped here) that stocks buttons and ribbons, two of my favourite things to pick up as souvenirs.
  5. Les Nereides - whimsical jewellery that looks way better in real life than it does in photos and is very French. I have a shamefully large collection of this stuff.
  6. Faguo - cool plimsolls with eco credentials. My brother really wants a pair. I like the coconut button.

There is a very cute book by Pia Jane Bijkerk called Paris: Made By Hand. I'd love to tour Paris with this jammed in my coat pocket. And some euros.

UPPERCASE journal

Since I found this magazine on the Pedlar's website, I have tracked down their blog and spent hours poring over it obsessively.
It's so, so good.

birthday list - part two

freddie holdall in blue by ally capellino

OK, this is embarrassing, but I am not done yet with my birthday list. I am a far, far grabbier person than that. (The word 'grabbier' has just gotten a wiggly red line, so apparently it's not a real word - although that doesn't mean it's not the right word. Think about THAT, The Man.)

Alrighty, then - another wiggle! - what do we have here? Luggage, that's what. Ever since I spilt a bottle of water in my weekend bag and soaked all my clothes, my weekend bag has grown mould. Ew, yucky. So, by my reckoning, I actually need this, at least more than I need any of the other stuff.

I dismissed Mulberry (too fancy - I'd be terrified of scuffing it) and Barbour (pretty cool, but sold out everywhere, so there must be hundreds of people jetsetting about with them and I might get mine confused with someone else's, maybe a Russian spy and it would be a whole world of pain that I don't need when I'm going on holiday of all things) and I also ditched all the safe, but dull options (safe yes, but dull).

I've admired Ally Capellino's bags from afar and been searching for any excuse to buy one of them. This Freddie holdall might just be Mr Freddie 'Lucky' Holdall if it gets to come on holiday with me! (oh no, that came out all wrong.)

it's nearly my birthday again...

Yup, it's that time of year folks! For my own amusement, I've made a little list of presents I would get for myself, if that wasn't a frowned-upon thing to do on one's birthday.
